Global Leadership Development Program: A survey of 27 cutting edge leadership development programs from 5 continents facilitated by various GLN members

Global Leadership Development Program (GLDP) is a global survey of cutting edge leadership development programs that integrate organizational and societal transformation with personal and interpersonal development. The programs include MBA and other academic programs as well as programs from non-academic settings that combine cognitive and experiential learning and with hands-on implementation practices.

ADAPTA SERTAO – Social Technologies for Adapting to Climate Change

To consolidate a model to improve adaptation to climatic change of small farmers living in semi-arid regions of the world. This model, developed and tested in Brazil, is based on catalytic action, market mechanism to give farmers access to clean irrigation technologies, fair trade, social and environment responsible markets.

AIM TeaM EnergyCenter for Bridging Societal Divides

The Asian Institute of Management – TeaM EnergyCenter for Bridging Societal Divides (Center) was established as an endowed institution in 2004, with the vision of “A Society Without Divides.” In working towards this vision, the Center has been performing the mission of developing leaders, primarily through the cultivation, in both theory and practice, of the Bridging Leadership Framework as an appropriate and effective leadership approach for addressing societal divides, in Mindanao, the Philippines, and the Asian region.

Peace Direct

Peace Direct is a charity based in London, England that supports grassroots peacebuilders in areas of conflict. The organization is a member of the One World Network, which seeks to "promote sustainable development, social justice, and human rights." Founded by GLN member Scilla Ellsworthy and Carolyn Hayman in 2003, Peace Direct was named ‘Best New Charity’ at the London Charity Awards 2005.

The Awakening the Dreamer Initiative (Pachamama Alliance)

The Awakening the Dreamer Initiative was created by the Pachamama Alliance with the aim of changing the dream of the modern world. At the heart of the initiative is the Awakening the Dreamer Changing the Dream Symposium. Through dynamic group interactions, leading edge information, and inspiring multimedia, participants of this half-day event are inspired to reconnect with their deep concern for our world, and are empowered to make a difference. Designed with the collaboration of some of the finest scientific, indigenous and activist minds in the world, the Symposium explores the current state of our planet from a new perspective, and connects participants with a powerful global movement to reclaim our future.

Gross National Happiness

Gross National Happiness (GNH) is an indicator developed in Bhutan in the Himalayas and is based on the premise that the calculation of “wealth” should consider other aspects besides economic development, such as the preservation of the environment and the quality of life of the people. Since being implemented in Bhutan, the concept has attracted the attention of the rest of the world with its new formula to measure the progress of a community or nation.

e-Parliament

e-Parliament offers the 25,000 members of congresses and parliaments around the world an Internet-based forum in which they can learn from one another other about legislative solutions that work, and together tackle global problems such as climate change, energy efficiency, and terrorism. The e-Parliament also recently has set up a Climate Parliament to coordinate all its work on energy and climate change.

Abraham Path Initiative

The Abraham Path Initiative seeks to address the growing chasm between the worlds of Islam and the West, by creating a permanent path of tourism and pilgrimage in the Middle East that retraces the footsteps of Abraham, the unifying figure of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The story of Abraham / Ibrahim's journey, which has been kept alive for some four thousand years in the landscape and memory of this region, records the origin of a spiritual tradition shared by more than three billion people in the world today.

Principles and Patterns of Best Practice – Bertelsmann Leadership Series

This very interesting study by leadership experts Grady McGonagill and Peter W. Pruyn is part of a comprehensive strategy with which Germany's largest operating foundation is engaging the topic of leadership through publications and leadership development programs. GLN's Walter Link served as an advisor to Bertelsmann’s strategy team and GLN’s study of Global Leadership Development provided valuable input for this overview paper on developmental patterns and principles.
