Global

We have a multidimensional understanding of the term 'Global':
  • Of course ‘global’ includes our geographic, ethnic and cultural diversity. But it also integrates all other aspects of our complexity such as professional disciplines, societal sectors, gender, age and other differences, which can divide us in more or less subtle ways.
  • GLN stands for finding practical ways to go beyond rejection and mere tolerance of difference to a deeper understanding and appreciation so that we can be enriched rather than separated by these aspects of our diversity.
  • Our understanding of ‘global’ also includes the integration of the ‘outer’ and ‘inner’ dimensions of who we are. We can call these inner dimensions psychological and spiritual, intellectual and somatic. We can speak of different forms of intelligence or of mind, heart and body. Whichever way we think or talk about this, in our experience the inner dimensions play a crucial role in our problems and opportunities.
  • In other words GLN recognizes the fundamental importance of integrating the ‘breadth’ of our diversity and the 'depth' of our shared humanity so that our leadership is grounded in the whole system that we actually are – to co-create a world that is more humane and peaceful, effective and dynamically sustainable.
